SUR was born from the illusion of making a project that encourages weavers who visit the Sevilla Teje 2023 festival to weave it. When the organizers of the event, Virginia, Susana and Ma José, proposed me this challenge, I loved the idea and felt very honored. I’ve thought of so many possibilities for this piece, but each time I’ve kept it in mind that it should be easy and fun, so that even the most novice knitter at the festival could knit it.

El Robledal de la Santa (wool producers and dyers) to create the yarn that reflects spring in our city could not have been more successful. And there are days, when the precious purple jacaranda flowers begin to fall and the wind whirls them all over the sidewalks, where they form purple cloaks and whimsical shapes, that the imagination takes flight and this shawl that celebrates the explosion of color that floods the streets of Seville every May.
